But in business * the corporate world, as an employee, punctuality takes on a totally new significance. Being late or behind schedule carries intangible costs &amp; actual huge financial implications.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Breakdown of Lateness to No. of Workings Per Year:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a worker is habitually late by just 10 minutes a day, it is equivalent to giving him\/her 5 extra periods of leave.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No. of Minutes Late Per Day X No. Of Workings Days In A Year:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10 X 250<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= 2500 minutes<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Assume 250 Working Days Per Year)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Next, Convert This Figure To Number Of Working Days In A Year:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>No. of Minutes \/ 60 \/ 8<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= 2500 \/ 60 \/ 8<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= 5.2 days<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>(Assume 8 Hours In 1 Working Day)<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-504\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aghrms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/late-for-work-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Convert the No. of Late Days In A Year To Dollar Value:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that you know the costs to the company, let\u2019s take a step further &amp; convert this to dollars and cents.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assume this employee is drawing $2,000 per month, with 20 working days per month.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cost of Employee Lateness To Company<\/strong>:<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= Monthly Salary \/ No. of working days per month X No. of days late<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= $2,000 \/ 20 \/ 5.2<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">= $520<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Impact To Company<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have now established that the costs of one worker who is consistently late for a year would be $520 a year.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But this may not be a significant amount for some companies. We get it, nothing wrong with that.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, let us scale up the values so the true impact can be felt:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a company with 100 employees, if everyone is late by an average of 10 minutes per day, this costs the company $52,000.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a company of 1,000 employees, if everyone is late by an average of 10 minutes per day employees, the cost is $520,000!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Your Thoughts?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being late by just 10 minutes may appear to be a trivial matter. After all, there are many reasons for this \u2013 heavy traffic, late nights, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s only too easy to think lightly of it &amp; ignore the situation.
