Punch Card Reader:<\/strong>\u00a0A card reader with a built-in hardware clock which \u201cprints\u201d employee clock-in\/out timing.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pros:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Punch card systems are easy to set up &amp; use.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Requires minimal maintenance &amp; service.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>One \u201cclick\u201d capture of Employee Attendance per clock-in\/out.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Relatively cheap to implement with straightforward setup.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cons:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Incurs monthly ongoing costs of purchasing new Punch Cards for company employees.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Porting over of Employee Attendance is manual &amp; cumbersome, with consolidating &amp; porting of data.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Prone to mishandling e.g. loss of punch cards due to employee carelessness &amp; misplacing.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Manual consolidation of data means no employee data security &amp; preservation of data integrity.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Data recorded is in hardcopy &amp; might run into processing problems e.g. punch may not be able to be read etc.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>(b) Magnetic Card<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aghrms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/magnetic-cards-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Fast forward to the 1970s:\u00a0<\/strong>With advances in Employee Attendance Management technology, manual punch cards evolved into Magnetic cards, which employees used to scan on an infrared device detector.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>This era saw widespread adoption of computers &amp; increasing use of Magnetic cards by companies, small businesses &amp; large MNCs around the world.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>With each scan, Magnetic cards capture employee clock-in\/out data, which can be recorded &amp; transferred electronically, hence allowing direct processing of such data.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Pros:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Easy to setup, integrate &amp; use for companies of all sizes.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Data recorded is in electronic form &amp; can be interfaced with Employee Attendance &amp; Time Management Software.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Allows for Automatic computation of Salary &amp; payments due to employees &amp; contractors.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cons:<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>System recognizes only magnetic cards, not people.\u00a0<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Thus employees can help colleagues clock attendance just by possessing their card(s).<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>The intended convenience may backfire &amp; increase employee absenteeism instead \u2013 &amp; without valid reasons.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Require specific technological expertise to maintain &amp; service.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(c)\u00a0<strong>Biometric Thumbprint Authentication\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aghrms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Fingerprint-scanning--1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>A highly popular way to track Employee Attendance Capture &amp; Monitoring from the 90s to the millennium, Biometric Authentication refers to clocking attendance in\/out with the use of employee fingerprints.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Biometric Authentication recognises that each employee\u2019s fingerprint is distinct &amp; unique.
